Here it is, folks. These just came barreling in across my desk, and here I am delivering the goods: the 2015 Ford Mustang.
Apparently, the folks at Ford weren’t too happy with their new creation being leaked earlier than they expected. What do they do, instead? Release a bevy of photos of the 2015 Ford Mustang. That’s alright with us!
I might have to eat some of my own words with yesterday’s feature. The nose isn’t as bad as I thought. It’s more squared off at the edges, and a little less ripoff Aston Martin than I expected. This is a good thing. Reports are saying that the 3.7 liter V6 will be the base engine, just like it is now, and that it will still pack 300 horses. Excellent.
A plot twist, though, says that the 2.3 liter EcoBoost 4 cylinder will slot in the middle of the range with “at least 305” horsepower. Then, of course, the GT will have the fantastic Coyote 5.0 with 420+ horsepower. No numbers are OFFICIAL for the 2015 Ford Mustang, but you can bet it will be better than the current generation car.
The styling tweaks also offer some functionality. The A-pillars have reportedly been redesigned to allow for better front visibility, and the airbag has been moved to the glove box for the passengers, making the interior a little nicer by eliminating a panel gap. Ford also claims that the new ‘Stang will have the fastest power convertible top ever, able to go up or down in just seven seconds.
As mentioned previously, an independent rear suspension will be present on all models of the 2015 Ford Mustang. With an all new chassis underneath its completely redesigned bodywork, we’re betting that this is going to be one fast pony on the street, the strip, or the road course. What more could you want?
While I personally haven’t warmed up entirely to its styling, it’s definitely not as bad as I thought after taking a closer look. I’ll hold my final judgement for when I see them in person (and I will, because Florida is pretty much the Mustang capitol of the world). Whatever feelings you may have, this is the 2015 Ford Mustang, and it’s coming to a showroom near you.
