I hope you guys weren’t looking foward to the auction of Spyker assets because it isn’t happening.
It was previously reported that Spyker was in deep trouble and behind on payments which is why local tax authorities decided to seize Spyker assets and liquidate them to regain the lost amount of money. Some of the cars that was reported to be sold in the auction included the D8 Peking-to-Paris Concept, some C8 Ailerons, and their Formula 1 car which wasn’t really competitive (which was bought out and turned into Sahara Force India) but still pretty damn cool.
Turns out that it was one big misunderstanding and the auction isn’t happening. Damn.
From Spyker CEO Victor Muller:
“There is no auction or issue, and this should never have been news. A business tax dispute was settled and paid last Wednesday, yet the authorities took nearly five full days to process the payment. During this time, there was a website link to an auction that caused negative press for Spyker Cars. That link has finally been removed and the authorities have confirmed their receipt of payment. Spyker Cars remains on track with the production of the B6 Venator and will be releasing additional details in the near future.”
So no Spyker liquidation for us. I was hoping I could buy the D12 for dirt cheap too. Well, to the spokesperson who initially started this misunderstanding, I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
